Pat and Stephenie opened Broadreach Fitness in a small garage behind an auto parts store in Hillsborough in 2015. The goal was simple, to create a place that motivates and makes people better.

Broadreach Fitness is more than a gym. They wanted to give people a place to get in some great workouts with the best coaching possible. Their goal at Broadreach is to make each member’s time at the gym, the best hour of their day!

What is your favorite part of coaching at Broadreach? Watching athletes accomplish more than they thought they could. Encouraging them to push boundaries and hit new PR's and being there to see them succeed.

Advice for anyone starting their fitness journey? Set small goals. You can chip away towards the bigger goals, you just have to show up. Have fun while doing it and don't take yourself or this too seriously!

What is your favorite part of coaching at Broadreach? - The athletes are all hungry to learn and improve. When I'm asked a question, it is always with a sincere desire to hear and learn the answer instead of just hoping that I'll provide some sort of confirmation bias for their preconceived notions.

I’m always happy to help and answer, especially when someone is willing to listen, put in the hard work, and check their ego in order to make the changes to improve.

Advice for anyone starting their fitness journey? Just show up! Even on days that you are dragging or feel like you won't be able to put in 100%. Just show up! We can help you scale or change movements so that you can still put in the work. Some days you just need to sweat and move.

So even when your brain tells you that you don’t want to workout… you will always feel better when you’re done. At the end of the day, no one regrets the workout they did, just the ones they don’t do!

What is your favorite part of coaching at Broadreach? I love finding the right scale or version of a movement for each person. There's a fine line combining a challenging but doable option, the feeling of getting a really good workout, and the satisfaction of having gotten a bit closer to achieving a goal movement/weight in the process.

When it’s a perfect fit, you can feel the athlete’s positivity about it and I am here for all of that – it gives me the warm fuzzies. Plus, of course, this community is simply the best. Freaking stellar.

What have you learned from being a Coach? What it truly means to meet people where they are. Some want to compete, while some wanna get fit. Speaking for myself here, some woke up one day, for whatever reason, unhappy with some aspect about themselves and said "never again. It ends today."

We learn what determination looks like through someone else’s lens. My instinctively intense style doesn’t work for everyone, so I’ve had to, at times, be more cognizant of my approach. Overall, I feel as though I learn more than I teach… And I think that is pretty awesome!

What is your favorite part of coaching at Broadreach? I love watching all of our members grow. Whether it's lifting heavier weights, getting their first toes to bar and double unders or becoming overall healthier individuals. All of it is exciting to see (even if it is only through logging their times in the app).
